Jumpstart McLean County at Illinois State University

Jumpstart is a national community service program in which college students throughout the United States provide one-on-one educational intervention to low-income and poverty-stricken preschoolers. In Fall 2005, Illinois State University will join the Jumpstart network.  As part of Jumpstart McLean County, forty work-study undergraduates will have a unique opportunity to help a needy child build language, literacy, social, and initiative skills that lay the groundwork for academic and later-life success.

Jumpstart McLean County is now recruiting students to joint this years Jumpstart Corps. If you are an ISU student with or without work-study eligibility, a desire to serve your community, and a willingness to make a two-semester commitment to helping a preschool child succeed, contact Julie Shaffer, Jumpstart coordinator, e-mail. , about becoming a Jumpstart Corps Member.
